If the organised Violent Criminals were the Nuer attacking the Anyuak Neighbourhoods, there could have been a solution for that already. We saw that during the Gambella Liberation Front (GLF) Attack in Gambella City.
Thr Nuer Militias, Liyu Haile (Special Force) were brought from the Nuer Zone enmassess. They were the one who pushed the GLF and OLF rebels out of the city.
And that was an only one day attack where the response from the Gambella Government under Omot Ojulu was so swift as GLF was led by Gatluak Buom Pal who is from the Nuer ethnic Group. But you see the Anyuak terrorist attacking Nuer for five years with nothing being done about it except flooding the Gambella Prison with Nuer Politicians and Nuer Civilians who acted in self defense.
How Dumber could the Nuer be to allow this to continue? They all look upon the eyes of federal goverment and the Anyuak leadership to come to their aid. Still for 5 years, nothing has been done.
Day by day the Nuer are getting killed and when they act in self defense, the Gambella Prison becomes a hotbed of innocent Nuer who pay the price of the Federal and State goverments in action as well as the stupidity of the Nuer Leaders who cannot condemn what is happening on the Nuer population in Gambella or come up with a better plan to save Nuer lives.
Why cannot they see what Thankuey and Omot did to the fighters of GLF? Gatluak’s ambition was not harming civilians unlike what the Anyuak were doing. Yet his forces were hunted down throughout Gambella.
But the Anyuak are killing the Nuer with full impunity even when information is leaked about potential spot of attack, nobody stops them or dealtthem consequences afterwards. Clearly, this was a different response when it is the other way round. For far too long, this violence is s in its 5th year. Yet there is no concreate plan to face the attackers rather than peace banners which give nothing.
The Nuer have the will, the capacity and the power to deal with this sitution. Yet the Gambella Goverment is treating the Nuer politicians like babies that those are bandits even when though they are embeded in their communities. Nuer should tell GLF example and how itwas dealt with. It was not peace Banners. Nuer themselves had the lead to solve it. But the Anyuak leadership got no interest to solve this matter instead they work with the killers under the cover of darkness.
The Nuer have also cried and pleaded to the federal goverment to change the guard so that a decisive action can be taken against these criminals.
Killing in the names of the land is an Anyuak DNA and appeasement does not stop them. But when you have leaders who harboured these criminals, then one should agree with the Anyuak praise which says “Nuer a bol in Dha Nyawaa”.
The Nuer needs to take action seriously and stop being fools. The Prime Minister is not going to tell you how you should lock your door to prevent break in. Alemitu won’t tell you either since she has prooved herself tio be a leader for the Anyuak. It is our duty to make sure we do not bleed more like we have been going through.
Right now, the Nuer needs to bring Militias to Makot, Puldeng. Itang and Berberseb to protect the civilians in case there is an attack.
There is nothing illegal about this. The Amhara Region which is under the constant attack of the Fano has tens of thousands of militias protecting the communities from attacks launched by FANO.
These militias are in the paycheck either of the federal govement or the Amhara Regional State Goverment. Above that, they have unlimited military resources to deal with the threat.
If the Prime Minister refuses to remove this Anyuak killer leaders from the power who are very coward to stop their violence murdeerers from doig more harm, then he should support the Nuer in doing self defence. This is the simpler and cheapest way than deploying the Ethiopian Federal Police or the ENDF. The environment won’t support the ENDF troops to be at any door 24/7.
But the militias in those areas born there, live there and will have a better intelligent of when these killers launch an attack.
