The Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed may be a messiah in Addis Ababa and its surroundings but in Gambella is a nightmare in every household.
The killing that has been going on in Gambella between the Nuer and Anyuak has never been seen since Haile Selassie era. The Prime Minister could have stopped this long time ago but he valued friendship with his Anyuak killers over the blood of innocent people.
He is associating himself with the Anyuak Killers who veto every decision that could bring a lasting peace in Gambella. The road between Tharpaam and Gambella which claimed so many lives today should never have been a cemetery for the Nuer if he does not keep those who harbour criminals in power.
But because the Prime Minister is incapable to remove them, these Anyuak leaders in power are using state resources to fund the violent campaign against the Nuer. They also use state resource to bribe longevity in power with fedeal agencies.
With these briberies of federal agencies, reports that reaches the Prime Minister’s office is that the Anyuak leadership is good. That is detrimental to for the Nuer security in Gambella.
For far too long, Nuer have been killed in Gambella in huge number by the Anyuaks. There is no month that cooud pass by without Nuer being killed. This problems may not be solved by tit for tat.
But it needs strong leadership to go after the killers and maintain security in the region. But that won’t happen without Nuer on the top job. A Nuer leader would put 5 command posts between Tharpaam and Gambella and patrol the road while also the force bases its approach on intelligent led policing.
But with the Prime Miister obsessed with the Anyuak, prosperity party in Gameblla will remain perilous. This is because the Prime Minister has heard enough about Gambella Violence.
The Prime Minister has vast suggestions from Nuer and some Anyuak about Gambella could be ended which is the removal of the leadership that sympathise with the killers.
But his obsession is another level befriending criminals and keeping them where they do not suppose to be. It is not leadership. It is a curse.
