Newland Bus station

Talks are underway for the Bus station in NewLand to be transformed into an Open Markets by business people in Gambella. The people with keen interest to take over the bus station in Newland are Highlanders mostly refered by Nuer as Buuny or Gale in Anyuak language.

The bus station was established out of Gambella Crisis so that Nuer can board bus service in Newland on security grounds. However, this met steep resistance from Anyuak youth whose livelihood depends  on menial jobs they acquaired at the bus stations located in the Anyuak area.

They expressed their objection to former President, Omot Ojulu that relocating the bus station to Nuer area would mean difficulties of survival.

They made this aeration despite many Anyuaks who kills Nuer to drive them out of Gambella. Apparently, it appears that there is a big chunk of Anyuak who understand that killing the hen is not a good idea as that would mark the end of eggs such as what the youth at the bus station were fighting for.

As this bus station in focus was built in Newland with the potential of Nuer to board in Nuer area, it causes discomfort among those who care for their jobs. Omot Ojul tried to bring the bus service back while also failing to arrest those who kills Nuer in bus station.

Now, President Alemitu is doing the same thing killing this whole project for good so that there is no trace of what is called Bus Station in Newland. With Mun Wal and Pal Tut gone from the current administration, it is inconceivable to suggest that Tut Joack would stop such a move by Alemitu and Nuer who are a Yes mum to her.

This talk has been going on for a while and the Nuer in 01 Kebele are pressing hard to sell this bus station to Buny (Highlanders) to use it as an avenue to sell products.

This bus station was not build by Gambella Regional State Goverment nor the 01Kebele. It was built by few Nuer who wanted to stop Nuer death at bus staion in Anyuak area. Throughout Gambella History of violence between Nuer and Anyuak, more than 16 Nuer were killed by Anyuak in the main bus station.

Having this bus station in Newland would stop such problems. But the Nuer working with Alemitu do not see that. They do not also have sympathy for Nuer women and children who might be carrying luggages and children to cover such a distance walking to Newland from the bus station located in Anyuak area.

These are the problems Nuer leaders should think about when representing their community. But the Nuer you see now working with Alemitu have been screened harder enough that Alemitu loves them more than she loves her Anyuaks because she uses them to advance the Anyuak interest.

She cannot do that with any of the Nuer leaders she fired or jailed. But with the Stupid Nuer who are left with her shielding her like a witch, she is probably going to get her way and this bus station will probably be sold.  Those who want fairness and equall representation are seen by Anyuak mostly Alemitu as trouble makers, now the fools, the cowards, and the belly scratchers are with her looking for no Nuer’s welfare rather than their bellies and Anyuaks.

The people of Gambella mostly the Nuer needs to confront Tut Joack of what is happening and therefore needs to reverse this situation. The Nuer who built this station costs them more money that could actually pay dowries of 5women in Nuer culture. But their aim as it was stated is to alleviate problems Nuer are facing when Gambella violent erupts. That was why they did not care about the money but the Gambella National and Regional State Government under Tut Joack wants to ensure the Nuer loose the money and the service that was built for them by their fellow Nuer for BUNY to get it at ease.
