The foundation stone for a model secondary school in Gambella town was officially laid with the support
of the Ministry of Education. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Education Professor Berhanu Nega and Gambella Regional State President Mrs. Alemitu Umod, who emphasized the importance of this initiative.
Professor Nega highlighted the region’s commitment to addressing deficiencies in classrooms and teaching methods. He stressed the need for improved educational facilities to enhance student competitiveness and productivity.
Both leaders called on stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring the successful construction and operation of the new schools, which aim to bridge the educational gap.
The project includes two model secondary schools and one boarding school, all expected to be completed within a year. President Alemitu Umod expressed optimism that this initiative would significantly elevate the quality of education in the region, pledging cooperation from the local government and community.
Regional Education Bureau Chief Ato Ukugn Ukelo underscored the vital role of these schools in tackling educational challenges, assuring that his bureau would oversee timely completion and necessary service provision.
Gambella City Mayor Dr. Simon Mun added that the new schools would alleviate overcrowding and provide students with adequate learning materials, fostering a better educational environment.
