The Problem betweeen Nuer and Anyuak in Gambella is benefitting criminals who have no regard to human lives. A mother was killed after midnight on 31/07/2024 by thuggs who were looking for jewelleries.

The victim and her infant were the only one in the house made of mud and grasses. While she was asleep, the bandits killed her and took the jewelleries from her neck and ears.

After ransacking the house, they found a leftover food already cook and ate it. The infant was there crying looking for breast milk not knowing her mother was dead. Many in the area belived it was not Anyuak doing that because the house was located in the heart of Newland. If these killers were Nuer as suspected, then evilness in Gambella is not confined to one section only. You found evils everywhere.

These thugs must be really weird and craziest of all man kind not only for the killing of an innocent victim, but to be eating the leftover food next to the dead body whose daughter was crying is unthinkable. The People in Newland have suffered so much in the hands of these thugs for years. The goverment needs to do something to protect the public from crimes likes this.

One way of maintaning security is to establish private policing in the city and issue security licences where security guards can work side by side with the public police officers and apprehend potential criminals for interrogation by public police. But in a state where the police actually shoot their own colleagues such as what happened in Itang last month, it is hard to see this suggestion would bear any fruits. These thugs would actually get pay check from Omot whose vision is to extreminate Nuer in Gambella.
