The Gambella regional council has taken action against judicial officials over ethics violations. During a
Judges dismissed over corrupt conduct
recent meeting that spanned two days, the council made the decision to dismiss five High Court Judges and twp Primary court Judges.
The Gambella state council has further announced the resignation of four high court presidents and one judge due to the same issue. The crackdown on ethics violations extended to the district level as well, with two district court judges being removed from their positions.
The regional council emphasized the importance of upholding ethical standards in the judiciary.
Additionally, the council addressed cases of corruption within the judicial system. A decision was passed to take disciplinary action against four high and district court judges implicated in corrupt practices.
In contrast, the Parliament approved the appointment of 14 new high and district court judges to reinforce the integrity of the judiciary.
As a conclusive step, the regional council’s regular assembly approved a substantial budget exceeding 12 #billion birr for the 2018 #fiscal_year. This financial allocation signifies the council’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary and ensuring transparent governance in the region.
